UK LGV License – Light Goods Vehicle Training
An LGV license is a driving license that qualifies the driver to drive vehicles that fall under LGV training category.
LGV licenses cover some smaller categories of vehicle which means if you get the license of the category C, you will be able to drive all the vehicles that fall under the category as well as vehicles of lower categories than category C.
The second is, UK is currently operating under the driver CPC scheme and EU has adopted this strategy. So, after getting LGV license, drivers need to undergo extra CPC training in order to renew their card every five years.
LGV training: While It is possible to get an LGV license without formal training, in practice the pass rates for those drivers who attend properly instructed courses is substantially higher. The LGV training is designed to achieve three things. The first, it is necessary to know basic driving theory to understand the concept of commercial driving.
An LGV license comes with responsibilities and restrictions above and beyond those you may be familiar with when driving a personal car. The basic categories including road safety, proper operation of the vehicle are substantially expanded upon when switching from domestic personal use vehicles to LGV or greater. Additionally the physics behind driving larger and heavier vehicles require some adjustment on the part of the driver. This is best done in a safe and controlled environment during a well instructed learning process.
G Lovatt provides students with the necessary physical skills to drive the vehicles such as, making proper turns, reversing trailers and trucks, operating larger vehicles in tight spaces and proper use of mirrors and additional safety equipment.
In addition to light goods vehicle courses, G Lovatt provides case studies to aid in the training of and to prepare students with much needed knowledge about Driver CPC requirements. The LGV testing includes two components related to CPC.
We provide both LGV and PCV driver training please complete our simple enquiry form for more information.
